Wedding wine barrels? What’s that, you say? As I was gathering inspiration for my own wedding decor, I came across a photo of a cocktail hour set up with wine barrels as the high-top “tables” and knew that was a look I wanted to replicate at my own wedding. It was the perfect rustic element, and topped with some votive candles and flowers, it transformed into a chic, beautiful element to add the perfect touch to our wedding.

So I knew wine barrels were a must for me, but how do you get your own wine barrels anyway?! As a DIY girl through and through, I didn’t have anyone to outsource this task to and set about the job of figuring it out. After researching online, I learned that some vineyards sell them or there’s ways to buy them online, but it will cost you a pretty penny. I would not be deterred and continued my search for affordable wine barrels until I came across a rental option (and jumped for joy!). The vendor I personally used was Vintage Affairs. They were wonderful to work with and I was thrilled to finally have secured my wine barrels (and forever appreciative to my parents for renting a Uhaul and driving them to/from my wedding venue and setting them up for me!)

I set up one wine barrel in the barn venue where my reception was to be held to display a little vintage vignette along with the holder I placed out to collect cards from wedding guests. And then, I was able to use the rest of the wine barrels around my cocktail hour space in an outdoor pavilion where they served as the perfect little spot for my guests to set down their cocktails and enjoy their hors d’oeuvres. While it’s not something I ended up doing myself, I also found beautiful wedding images that used two wine barrels topped with a wooden plank and used as a beautiful display table for beverages or seating cards and also gorgeous floral-draped wine barrels for the ceremony site.

So, if you’re dreaming up fresh ideas for your wedding, may I suggest a wine barrel or 6! Happy planning!
